WHERE IS THE WORD?
Age level - Older children and above
Proficiency level - any
Material - Slips with words in very small print
Objective - to practice vocabulary
Prepare a list of vocabulary items you want to practice with your students. Write their definitions. Add other words, known or unknown, but do not write their definitions. They will work as distractors.
In small print, write all the words from your list on pieces of paper. There can be more than one slip with the same word. Place the slips on the walls around the classroom. Divide the group into two or three groups. Tell them to listen to the definition and bring you the word. If they are successful, they have to repeat both the word and the definition to score a point for their group. If the word is incorrect, they have to put it back on the wall.
